SELF-PUBLISHING TIPS 100 - Does Your E-Book Need an ISBN?

Whether you are self-publishing your e-book or going through a traditional publisher, will your e-book need an ISBN?  An ISBN is a unique identifier for books in print, usually accompanied with a bar code.  The ISBN is used to control stock and track sales for publishing companies, retailers, and libraries.  The ISBN is attached to the publisher, the author, the title, and format of the book.   However, since there is no inventory control required for an e-book and no means to swipe it at the check-out counter, is it necessary to assign a unique identifier?  The ISBN recently performed a study to answer that question.  Check out what they had to say at their website.
Dilsa Saunders Bailey is the author of Dreams Thrown Away, a romantic suspense novel available in e-book Format on Amazon and on Outskirts Press.
